Overview

This class is for anyone involved with optimizing the performance of PeopleSoft 8.x products on DB2 for OS/390.

It teaches all aspects of how to identify performance bottlenecks in both the batch and online 2, 3-tier and web 4-tier environments, and recommends ways to solve them.

The seminar specifically addresses PS 8.x functionality, but most of the content is relevant to prior releases as well.

Day 1 and half of Day 2 focuses on the batch environment. It covers a architectural overview, interpreting performance traces, tuning techniques, SQL tuning, DB2 object and system tuning, DB2 V6 and 7 features, Capacity Planning, and Case Studies.

The rest of Day 2 and Day 3 focuses on the online environment. It covers the online architecture, sizing and capacity planning, interpreting online traces, Application Server and Web Server  tuning, online performance tuning techniques, DB2 Connect/Centura, and Workload Manager

Audience

This class is particularly recommended for DBA's, who are usually responsible for most optimization issues, but also for technical developers who customize PeopleSoft and are most knowledgeable about the processes that run.

It is also relevant for Systems Programmers and Network Engineers, whose areas of expertise are an integral part of PeopleSoft performance.
